  • MFT 59 67 8th Avenue Northeast Minneapolis, MN, 55413 United States (map)

Please join us for a free screening of Laura Angelica Simón's 1997 film, "Fear and Learning at Hoover Elementary". This film is a timely reminder of what happens when our immigrant communities are targeted, and how that affects public school students and staff. Read more about "Fear and Learning" here

The structural violence being pushed by the Trump administration is not new. We have an opportunity and a responsibility to learn from past struggles to support and stand in solidarity with our students and their families.

We will be discussing the issues we're facing in our schools in the wake of increased deportations and explicit hostility towards refugees and immigrants. SJEM is organizing to make our schools true sanctuary spaces and encouraging education workers to become involved in rapid response networks to resist deportations. Join us after the film to talk about how we can use our position in schools to take action against deportations. Take the promise to defend immigrant students and families here
