Please join us at the April MPS school board meeting to stand in solidarity with educators of color who have been pushed out of our schools. https://www.facebook.com/events/1901032760176615/
For those not familiar, the targeting, harassment, and firings of staff of color has long been widespread across our District that so often talks "racial equity", a core problem that has come up time and again, well before SJEM came around. This must stop - it is disastrous for our students, parents, staff, and communities. We need staff ensuring students in special education have their legal protections and services, saying no to unethical punishing of students, providing inspiration, connection, role models, and so much more. This is why we need to ORGANIZE our schools!
Four such people - Northside educators of color - are speaking out this Tuesday. This is our time to show up to make the voices of Staff of Color heard - through our people power. ALL OUT THIS TUESDAY!
1. Share, invite your friends, turn out people for Tuesday.
2. Email and call the School Board and demand that they do the right thing, including rehiring fired staff at less toxic schools (see draft below).
3. Share your stories to us and/or the School Board: about how wonderful or important staff of color are to you or about things that have happened that need to be changed or known. See our and the School Board's contact info, below.
4. Help plan this action Friday and Monday after school - message us for more info.
